How might what you wear fare in foul weather? How does each piece of clothing move as you go about your routine? Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia has always envisioned a vivid picture of the future with its bold and billowing silhouettes, designing garments that are simultaneously baggy and well tailored. Now the fashion house is doing just that on Apple Vision Pro

Accessible via Apple’s virtual reality headset, Balenciaga’s new app allows viewers to interact with its recent collections through a digital lookbook using visionOS technology. Functionality includes an interface for experiencing 3-D photos and videos, so that the user can feel as though they are inside the images, and the digital lookbook supports users to witness the clothes in motion. This intuitive interface does not require the viewer to attend a fashion show or visit a brick-and-mortar store to experience the tactile movement of the garments. Rather, users wearing the goggles can operate the app using their hands, voice and eyes across multiple virtual screens.

Gvasalia’s approach to fashion has always been about pushing the boundaries of what clothing can do. This philosophy came into view at Balenciaga’s Resort 2025 collection, which recently debuted in Shanghai. The neon skyline glowed with light, atmospheric rain, and the collection featured scintillating garments in contrast with darker, heftier yet well-proportioned pieces. Now, the Apple collaboration brings these pieces into the digital stratosphere, allowing for Vision Pro-wearers to behold the structural designs that make the brand a household name.

Balenciaga’s virtual experience is available to be downloaded in select countries.

Walking Distance

Location is everything—especially for LA renaissance man Harley Wertheimer. Be it the new setting of his contemporary art gallery or his revitalized Hollywood café a stone’s throw away, he sees spaces not for what they are but for what they could be.

Food

Finnish Sweet Buns

Traditionally served on Shrove Tuesday, this sweet, cardamom-flavored pastry never goes out of season for photographer Jukka Ovaskainen.

Uncharted

Lightning strikes for legendary graphic designer Paula Scher when she least expects it—or when she opts to take the wrong turn.
