A white envelope floats through the open window of an atelier in France. It is addressed to the artisans of LVMH, and underneath a yellow inscription reads PARIS 2024. This is the beginning sequence of The Mission, a short film released last July that celebrates the partnership between the maison and the Paris 2024 Olympics. As summer approaches, Louis Vuitton shines a light on Paris’s rich history of athleticism and culture with an exclusive edition of its City Guide Paris, as well as the first-ever city book for the French capital. Both publications will present a newly curated array of Parisian experiences by the house.
Louis Vuitton has always been dedicated to the spirit of wanderlust, from the brand’s signature monogram trunk to its extensive travel accessories division. Over the years, the French luxury fashion house has established itself as the ultimate travel companion. The maison’s own publishing métier released its first city guide in 1998 alongside a handmade leather sleeve. With over 30 installments published featuring a slew of esteemed writers, photographers, and artists, the series aims to provide travelers with unique destinations and local recommendations.
Ahead of the Paris Olympics, the new city guide for Paris will hone in on the athletic lifestyle of each arrondissement, ranging from sports gear preferences and recreational activities, as well as guest appearance by fencing star Enzo Lefort, who will represent France in the Olympics for the 4th time this year. In conjunction, Louis Vuitton’s City Book Paris—the coffee-table book adaptation of its guide—offers a closer look into the metropolis with expanded listings, updated entries on architectural history, as well as carte blanche contributions from various artists. Furthermore, Louis Vuitton will issue two additions to its travel book series featuring Amsterdam and Indonesia. With the upcoming releases of these four books, Louis Vuitton invites readers to look up from their lives and see the world for themselves.
The sports edition of City Guide Paris and City Book Paris will be available on June 14, 2024 at Louis Vuitton stores, select booksellers, and louisvuitton.com.
