For the last 160 years, Frette’s Italian fabrics have adorned historic spaces throughout the world, such as St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, the renowned Orient Express, and, last spring, Milan’s Palazzina Appiani in collaboration with Thom Browne. Now, for the luxury linen brand’s latest collaboration, it has partnered with Portrait Milano, the newest hotel from the Lungarno Collection, located on the site of Milan’s old Archiepiscopal Seminary. The result is A Meeting of Icons, a bespoke collection of textiles that reflect the city’s timeless style.
Milan’s perennial elegance emanates across silken sheets, cloud-like towels, pillowcases, and a bathrobe. The new sheets and duvet covers are classically white, while the adjoining pillow cases are outlined in green, white, or red stitching. The white towels and bathrobes, while similarly straightforward, are adorned with Portrait Milano’s modern logo.
Founded in Grenoble by three Frenchmen in 1860, the inextricably Italian textile manufacturer has been rooted at the center of the Brianza textile district in Monza since 1862. Soon after, Frette opened its first retail shop in Milan. Over a century later, and the brand continues to bring its Lombardian elegance to hotel interiors worldwide, such as the Palazzo Ripetta in Rome, Halcyon House in Australia, Park James in Palo Alto, and now Portrait Milano. The latter proves to be an idyllic match of modern sensibility and historic location. The building’s grand piazza creates a walkway to the luxury shopping street of Via S. Andrea, outlined by a 17th-century colonnade. Walking through Milan’s fashion district, minutes away from the city’s Centro Storico, visitors might unwind in a buttery robe, lay back on the soft sheets, and relax in the soft, wood interiors of the Baroque architectural treasure.
A Meeting of Icons is exclusively available at the Frette Milano Flagship boutique and at Frette.com.
